On behalf of ICLEI, Bard Rama was invited to speak at the BuildUPspeed Final Conference on Industrialised Building Construction and Renovation: Outcomes, Pilots and Policy Recommendations, held on 22 June 2026, to showcase the AEGIR project.

The event brought together strong insights from the BuildUPspeed project on industrialised deep renovation, including pilot ecosystems across Europe, the Market Activation Platform, local pop-up factory concepts, and policy recommendations for route-to-market uptake.

Lessons from the AEGIR project were highlighted, namely lessons from demo sites for scaling industrialised renovation. Drawing on AEGIR’s Demo-led Replication Workshop Series across Spain, France, Denmark and Romania, Rama shared practical reflections on what helps or blocks replication in real municipal contexts, including technical integration, occupied-building constraints, stakeholder coordination, governance and approval processes, procurement readiness and financing conditions.

A key message from AEGIR is that industrialised renovation is not only about proving that technologies work. Scale also depends on preparing the local conditions for implementation.
