The AEGIR project, which aims to develop modular, renewable, and industrialised building envelopes for low-energy renovation, has reached a significant milestone. Following the successful completion of the technical development and detailed engineering phases, consortium partner Fachadas Singulares Uxama has officially started the manufacturing phase, marking the transition from digital design to industrial production.
After months of intensive engineering work, the AEGIR consortium has finalised the detailed manufacturing blueprints, bringing the design phase to a successful conclusion and paving the way for physical production.
Uxama has also completed the procurement process and launched all key material orders, ensuring that every critical component meets the project’s demanding quality, durability, and performance requirements. This marks an important step towards the industrialisation of AEGIR’s innovative façade solutions.



As part of the validation process, the project has employed additive manufacturing (3D printing) to produce high-precision prototypes and sample components. These prototypes enable the team to verify the geometry, fit, and assembly of complex elements before manufacturing them with the final materials.
Using 3D printing at this stage helps minimise technical risks, optimise production processes, and reduce development time.
“We are ready to receive the materials and begin assembly at our facilities,” stated members of the Uxama technical team.
The next strategic milestone will be the full assembly of the system at Uxama’s production facilities. This pre-assembly phase is essential to verify that all components and systems work together seamlessly before deployment.
Once validated in the workshop, the assembled units will be transported to the project’s demonstration sites, where they will be installed and tested under real operating conditions. These demonstrations will provide valuable insights into the performance, reliability, and scalability of AEGIR’s innovative building envelope solutions.
With the launch of the manufacturing phase, Uxama reaffirms its commitment to innovation and demonstrates its ability to transform advanced engineering concepts into industrial solutions that support Europe’s transition towards a more sustainable and energy-efficient built environment.
